Yama-Uba will provide Arabella with many tips for making her recipes and magic formulas. She is known as the witch of the mountains and usually lives in Japan. She is often called Yamamba and is very old, with scary white hair. Despite her hideous appearance, Yama-Uba loves to spend time with her family. She can transform herself into an old lady or a young mother, depending on the situation. Interestingly, her clothes are often damaged. Originally red, they are worn, but it is not clear how she still keeps them. When transformed into a young woman, she changes her hair color to a beautiful black hairstyle. A symbol of wisdom, she hides her true nature.

As a well-known Japanese witch, her stories date back to ancient times. She can also transform into a very ugly white-haired toad, Yama-Uboad, sometimes called Yamaboadd. You can discover her stories and tales in our illustrated collection for children.

Everyone has a lot of respect for this witch, who is not a Rokurobuki, which are monsters with long necks, nor is she a yokai, a creature from Japanese mythology. She possesses supernatural, strange, and mysterious powers.
